Kate Shaw
Hi, I’m Kate Shaw—a British dive professional and visual storyteller, currently based in the Midlands and graduating from Falmouth University with a BA in Marine and Natural History Photography in 2025.
My journey into storytelling began not in a studio, but in a caravan in the Welsh countryside, where I grew up surrounded by nature in its rawest form. That early connection to the outdoors shaped how I see the world—through quiet observation, a love of wild spaces, and a deep respect for the small, fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.
Today, that same sensitivity is what influences my photographic work and I bring a versatile and thoughtful approach to every shoot, always seeking the deeper narrative behind each moment.
I believe in the power of natural light and the honesty it brings to a frame. My style is intimate and immersive—less about spectacle, more about sincerity. I strive to tell stories that explore where people and the natural world meet, how we shape it, and how it shapes us in return.
Storytelling is the heart of everything I do. For me, photography isn’t just about capturing what’s there—it’s about understanding the rhythm of a place, the emotion of a moment, and the connections we form with the environments we inhabit. I aim to weave narrative and meaning into each frame.
Being based in the Midlands gives me the freedom to travel easily across the UK and beyond. It’s a perfectly central spot, allowing me to remain flexible and responsive to opportunities.
I’m passionate about combining technical skill with emotional resonance—working closely with clients, collaborators, and communities to create visual stories that feel both grounded and compelling. If you’re interested in working together or just want to connect over a shared love for storytelling and the sea, I’d love to hear from you.
